Custom Star Trek Vulcan ear tips.

I made these in 48 hours just barley in time for October 31st.
These were made of latex, so they were more TOS style. Next time around in the 2009 uniform I'll be making them out of silicon for a more fleshy look. Possibly for Starfest 2010.

"Gimme Three" sci fi short. The "proto" Buck Rogers flick.

Very few people know of my short film Gimme Three that I produced to see if the stuff I wanted to do for Buck Rogers and The World of Tomorrow was possible. Some remark I made Buck Rogers in four weeks from start to finish, but how about five days?
This film was a project where we had to create a short based on the lyrics of a list of songs given to us. I choose Lynyrd Skynrds "Gimme Three Steps" since it provided me with a means to quickly film something where it would only be me interacting with digital characters.
This is personally my favorite short I've done so far due to the comedic aspects, and the fact it was done in only 5 days from star to finish. It showed me that if I could do this in 5 days, I could put together Buck Rogers in four weeks.
Enjoy!

Dark Knight armored mesh suit.

This is the latest version of my Dark Knight armored mesh suit I am making for my friend Keith in Singapore. This version features a nylon mesh suit that has actually been coated with a layer of latex rubber. This makes it more durable, more accurate and easier to bond to the latex armor pieces.

Weird Science test composite- Aliens cooking minature humans in a frying pan.

This is a test composite I did for my VFX Field Production at the Art Institute of Colorado. Under the supervision of Mr.Debreceni,we filmed several members of the class in the greenscreen studio separately.
Using the digital living room built in 3dsmax and a composite shot of a frying pan, everyone is thrown together to be cooked alive for hungry evil aliens!
I used Adobe After Effects for the compositing, smoke is 3dmax particle effects.

Becomming Commander Data

I spent the last few weeks putting together a Commander Data costume for Star Fest here in Denver. I ended up buying a Voyager pattern and adapting it into a First Contact-Nemesis uniform.

I bought a Nemesis "Dolphin phaser kit from Roddenberry.com, and painted it with gunmetal grey automotive paint

For the makeup I put on several layers of white water based face makeup by By Nye each sealed with a sealant, followed by a layer of gold metallic powder.
And of course yellow contacts

It was an amazing experience meeting Brent Spiner as Data. He loved the costume and we had a very funny conversation about white/gold makeup and yellow contacts. Brilliant guy, turns out we are even from the same neighborhood in Houston, Texas.

1939 Golden Age Batman Cowl

Here's a photo I took for my lighting for video and film class of my Golden Age Batman cowl of which I'll be doing a short run of soon. The cowl in this pic is a bit rough and unfinished since I had to present the pic 12 hours later.
As some may remember, Bats wore short purple gloves when he first appeared.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Atomic Disintegrator pistol prop!

Image Hosting by Picoodle.com
I just finished up this Sky Captain Atomic pistol prop from Wilco Models.
Kit composed of two parts made of pressure cast resin. Being pressure cast means no bubble holes, therefore a kit with very easy cleanup. The only thing that needed sanding was the mold seams. After glueing together with a combination of superglue and Smooth-On's Metalset A4, it gets sprayed with Krylon ultra flat black. Then it gets lighty sprayed with silver aluminum paint to give it texture. Then it gets finished with silver Rub n' Buff and the accents painted with Testors copper enamel.
Then a minimal amount of weathering to make it look worn and used, aloung with a sealant to keep the Rub n' Buff intact.
